Now Mastitis causes by bacteria can be found “At Cow Side”!
When checking for Mastitis, a Somatic Cell Count test may be performed at Cow Side. Somatic Cell Count test does not detect bacteria. However, treatment will be needed if bacteria is present. Therefore, using the EnZquik Fluorescent tests which are positive for bacteria, will provide this important information at Cow Side and allow for immediate treatment!
Use only fresh milk samples, not pasteurized or spiked milk samples when testing.
A health milk sample is compared to a suspect milk sample utilizing a handheld fluorometer and fluorescent assays. If elevated levels of bacteria are present in the suspect milk sample, the higher RFU (relative fluorescent units) will be displayed on the handheld fluorometer Pass <500 RFU Fail >501 RFU
No waiting for lab results, screening can be done at the farm!
Mastitis screening available for:
- Gram Negative Aerobic Bacteria
- Total Aerobic Organisms Bacteria
- Staphylococcus aureus
- Total Coliforms
